Objective: Animate the camera along the dolly track in your timeline.

Yesterday, I showed you how to set up a dolly track. Today we are going to take that and animate our virtual camera along that track in the timeline.

To begin, the first thing we want to do is create an animation track.

Select the virtual camera and drag and drop it onto the animation track and select create animator on the virtual camera.

Normally, we would add the Object that has the Cinemachine brain into the Timeline and add cinemachine shots so the main camera will switch between virtual cameras.

To begin animating the camera you need to press the red record button.

While recording select your virtual camera. To create the first frame of your animation, select path position and enter zero.

Now drag the display on your timeline to where you want the camera to end its position.

Now you can change the path position to the final waypoint and the camera will snap to that waypoint.

On the inspector you will want to under the look at, select the object you want to look at, in this exercise we want to look at the cube.

You cannot select the record button again to turn stop recording. If you play the editor your animated dolly shot will begin!

This is it; you have fully animated your dolly shot. In the next tutorial we are going to learn how to animate objects on your Timeline! Don’t be afraid to experiment with your dolly tracks and I’ll see you in the next tutorial.
