Making Spaceships Fly using Timeline

Objective: Create a unique looping animation using Timeline!

So far we have been creating animations in Timeline where the start point and end point are always the same. In this tutorial, I will show you how to create your own unique looping animation on a spaceship.

We are going to start the same way we have been by creating a Timeline. After that drag your object onto the Timeline as an animation track.

Now press the record button and make your first animation.

Convert you animation to a clip.

Now record your second animation.

Notice that the spaceship clips between animations. We will fix this later. Let’s go ahead and create the next and final animation.

When making the final key frame I copies the position and rotation of the spaceship’s starting position/rotation of the first animation. If I were to play all three the spaceship would clip between clips.

We can fix this by easing in the clips together. To begine space out the clips.

From here we can extend the second clip and ease in the first animation.

Repeat with clip two and three.

Adjust these blends until you get the exact look you want for your animations.

Don’t forget, we are creating an animation loop. Select the director in the hierarchy. In the inspector select wrap and choose loop. Now your animation will start over as soon as it is over.

Now we have created a unique spaceship animation loop. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your own animations and I’ll see you in the next tutorial!
